BARTON, Edgar Charles
October 12, 1917 - January 19, 2015
Edgar (Ed) passed away on January 19, 2015 at the age of 97. He was the last surviving member of his family, predeceased by his brothers Syd, Doug, Victor and his sister Gwen. His loving wife of 67 years, Mary, passed away in May 2009. Ed is survived by his two sons Richard (Peggy) and Donald (Denise), five grandchildren, and six great- grandchildren. Ed was born and raised in Vancouver. After receiving his MA from The University of British Columbia, he began teaching in Chilliwack (1942), then at Kitsilano High School in Vancouver. As head of the English Department at Gladstone Secondary, he shared his joy of English literature with thousands of students. Ed also spent most of his life teaching others about the Bible's promise for a better world. He looked forward to being reunited with his loving wife Mary according to the Bible's promise of a resurrection to life on earth (John 5:28,29), free from suffering and death (Rev 21:3,4). A Memorial Service will be held at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses at 4260 Williams Rd, Richmond, on Saturday, February 7, 2015 at 2:00 p.m.
